Overview

The Jake's project tasks us with building a POS system for Jake's of Columbia to manage orders, tabs, payments, and staff in a simple and modern interface.

Context and Scope

The system will be used by Jake's staff (servers, bartenders, and managers) to open, close, split, and combine tabs, search checks by customer name or check number, manage menu items and modifiers, and track inventory, sales, and employee activity through a simple, streamlined UI.

Goals

1. Enable fast and reliable tab and order management for Jake's staff.
2. Provide clear visibility into sales, inventory, and staff activity for managers.
3. Deliver a simple, modern interface that is easy to learn and use during busy shifts.
